Job Description

We are looking for a Retail Assistant, to be trained as an Apprentice Butcher, to support the production of our delicious handmade meat-based products at Hambleton Farms, an independent, owner-run retail food business. Our business has grown significantlyover the last 18 years, and we have become a multi-award-winning operation with an enthusiastic and dedicated team of 25 employees working across our 4 locations.We have a great selection of fresh and cooked meats and produce a large range of seasonal products in-store. This is a very busy retail outlet, and no 2 days are the same! The Hambleton’s butchery/deli is based inside Gates Garden Centre and is a made up of5 full-timers and 2 part-timers - all working closely together. This role will suit someone who is into great food and wants to learn about the trade. Working closely with ‘MEAT Ipswich’ full and professional apprenticeship training level 2 and 3 will be provided.We aim to have your skill levels to a good standard within 2 years. These skills are in massive demand in the UK currently.As a Retail Assistant at Hambleton Farms, you will:

• Work with the Butchers in setting the store up on a daily basis.
• Assist in making our seasonal range of ‘meal solutions’.
• Merchandise displays.
• Serve customers.
• Assist the team in completion of the daily operations of the department.
• Work with the deli team.

At Hambleton Farms, we’re looking for a Retail Assistant with the following:

• A love of good food.
• A keen eye for detail.
• Previous experience in a Retail, Butchery Assistant, Counter Assistant, Deli Assistant, Customer Service or Retail Assistant role.
• A hard-working attitude
• Keen to work in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills

We believe that the apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic way to learn a trade. We don’t just pay the apprenticeship level of wages though; we don’t think that’s right. You will start on the national minimum wage, and will also receive staff discount, a companypension and death in service insurance.Our 4 retail shops are based at some of the best Garden centres and Farm shops in the Midlands.This is a full-time role working 47.5 hours per week: 08.30 – 17.30 (30-minute lunch) with 1 day off at the weekend and 1 in the week.
