Job Description

Jaxdene Partnership have an existing opportunity for experienced Welding Quality Inspector to join a growing and successful team. Our Clients based in Chatteris, they are developing a World Class manufacturing facility for high integrity Nuclear Waste Containers.As a Welding Quality Inspector you would inspect welded products to ensure compliance with specifications for high integrity, mission critical products for a broad range of high technology business sectors.Work Pattern : 42-46hrs a week, mainly work day shifts and in line with business needs (ie: occasional late/early shifts depending on workload), the core hours would be:Monday to Thursday 07.30-16.30 with 30 minutes unpaid lunch breakFriday 07.30-12.00Responsibility for inspection of:

  • Materials received into the company for material composition and dimensional compliance
  • Welded items
  • Tacked up items
  • Dimensional acceptance of fabricated components using standard and specialised equipment:
  • In-process inspection
  • First Article Inspection (FAI)
  • Final inspection
  • Goods Inwards
  • Raising defect reports
Non-destructive Inspection processes to be used:
  • Radiographic Testing (RT)
  • Weld Inspection (VT)
  • Magnetic particle Testing (MPT)
  • Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Dye penetrant testing (DPI)
  • Visual
Familiar with:
  • Management systems ISO9001 / ISO45001
  • Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Operation of 3D scanning machine
  • Operation of CMM machine
  • Operation of Leica laser tracker
  • Operation of Creaform machine
  • Operation of Faro portable CMM machine
  • Expertise in digitisation of processes
PERSON SPECIFICATIONEssential attributes (Experience, knowledge, skills, education):
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering and fabrication drawings
  • Have an understanding of geometrical tolerancing (preferably BS8888).
  • Competent in using standard measuring equipment.
  • Experienced in word & excel.
  • PCN or DPI Level 2
· PCN or Weld inspection Level 2
  • Ability to proactively resolve issues,
  • identify improvement initiatives,
  • familiar with, and maintaining, 5S
  • continually improve process efficiency
  • ability to help create and maintain a World Class Facility.
Experience· Several years inspection experience of welding activitiesSkills
  • Proactive and dynamic approach in challenging existing processes
  • Good communication skills.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of best practice for welding of a variety of materials, such as: Stainless steels, Duplex SS, C-Mn steels, aluminium, and nickel-based alloys.
  • Knowledge of welding Standards.
