Job Description

Position: Metal Fabricator & WelderEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Chatteris Work Hours: Up to 46 hours per week, potential day and night shiftsAbout the Role: As a Metal Fabricator & Welder, your primary responsibility involves the proficient use of welding techniques to join different metals. This includes interpreting engineering drawings for fabrication and welding tasks, ensuring products meetquality and safety standards, meeting production schedules, effective collaboration within a team setting, applying mechanical skills, meticulous attention to detail, possessing the required education and training, basic computer skills, and adaptability forpotential shifts.Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently apply various welding techniques such as GMAW, GTAW, and potentially robotic welding, while working with diverse materials.
  • Interpret technical drawings for precise fabrication and welding operations.
  • Maintain strict adherence to established quality and safety standards.
  • Meet and uphold production schedules, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate within a team, while also engaging with management to prioritize workflow.
  • Apply general mechanical skills to the fabrication and welding process.
  • Pay close attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in work performed.
  • Possess the necessary education and training, including apprenticeship or certified experience, and potentially technical or vocational training and certifications.
  • Display proficiency in basic computer navigation and utilization.
  • Be flexible and adaptable for potential day and night shifts as required at the Chatteris location.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proven experience and proficiency in various welding techniques, including GMAW and GTAW.
  • Familiarity or experience with robotic welding is advantageous.
  • Experience with diverse materials, such as duplex and austenitic steels, is preferred.
  • Competency in using overhead cranes is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, valuing the quality of work produced.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle manual tasks effectively.
  • Completed apprenticeship or certified time served as a fabricator/welder.
  • Basic computer skills for navigation and utilization.
  • Flexibility for potential day and night shifts based on the needs of the role at Chatteris.
