Job Description

Manpower is pleased to be recruiting for CNC Machinists on an immediate start.PURPOSE & SCOPEWorking within the production team, you will be required to operate various CNC machines and produce components in accordance with the documentation supplied, and to the customers requirements within specified geometric tolerances, defined acceptance criteriaand achieve the finish machined components in reasonable timescales.Duties may include ensure all daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance checks and actions are completed in a timely manner and any faults reported in accordance with company policy. To ensure that company assets are operated correctly within your areaof responsibility and conduct any tasks within your capability at the request of supervision.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Interpret the drawings or other work instructions with particular attention to the tolerances/surface finish requirements either alone or with others depending on the complexity.
  • Assess, where required, the best/economical method of manufacture including tool selection either alone or with others depending on the complexity.
  • Set up components and machine to correct dimensions/instructions as issued, ensuring throughout that necessary precautions have been taken to protect yourself and fellow workers from injury and the component and machine tool from damage.
  • When complete and where required throughout the manufacturing cycle check the component is within the drawing requirements. Complete when necessary dimensional record sheets. If in doubt seek advice or bring to the attention of your line Supervisor or Inspector.
  • Ensure all sharp edges and burrs have been removed and where required identification markings replaced prior to issuing to the next stage of production.
  • To be available, if required, to work extra hours under reasonable circumstances and to carry out any other duties which may be required by the shop supervisor.
  • Assist where required with training of Apprentices or new employees.
  • Identify training gap needs associated with your job function.
  • Report all machine tool breakdowns and malfunctions to the Team Leader and provide full descriptions where possible of the problems being encountered and the effect on component accuracy and/or timescales for completion.
  • Work to and highlight any deficiencies on work order plans including accurate labour recording/booking records.
  • Ensure your machine/equipment and the surrounding areas are in a clean and acceptable condition.
Education & Training
  • Apprentice Trained or time served machinist with proven experience
  • Basic computer navigation and utilisation skills preferred
  • Specific technical or vocational training or certification preferred
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience with Fanuc control systems advantageous
  • Experience in the use of overhead cranes would be an advantage

  • Able to work from engineering drawings to geometric tolerances
