Job Description

My client a successful growing cosmetic brand are seeking an immediately available Financial Controller to join their team for a minimum of 6 months.Playing a pivotal role in a small, but rapidly growing business, the financial controller will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the finance functionSalary £50,000-£60,000 + Hybrid workingResponsibilities will include:Supervise 1 Accounts Assistant and oversee in-house bookkeeping functions such as:

  • Perform month end processes and prepare consolidated management reports (UK and US companies)
  • Implement a month end timetable for reconciling and closing subledger accounts (debtors, creditors, cash, stock) and matching them to Trial Balance
  • Identify accruals and prepayments and adjust accordingly
  • Prepare monthly management accounts within 15 working days and aim to reduce it to 10 days over time Analyse product profitability and gross margin Prepare annual budget and quarterly forecasts
  • File tax returns for UK, EU and US and make timely payments
  • Ensure PAYE and Pension contributions are paid on time
  • Work with external accountants for tax returns and statutory accounts in relevant countries
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures for the company
  • Create authorisation matrix and communicate it to team members
  • Comply with financial regulations and legislation in the UK and internationally
  • Payables, receivables, and bank reconciliations
  • Manage invoice discounting facility and maintain good relationship and compliance with lender
You will be:
  • Part qualified, or qualified by experience, accountant.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior finance role in an SME environment
  • Experience of selling to direct, and wholesale, customers.
  • AdvancedExcel skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and respond to problems and non-routine events.
  • Proven track record in managing changes while still meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organization and planning skills.
  • The ability to remain focused and calm in the face of tight and changing timelines.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and take authority with projects.
  • Hands-on, driven and flexible, willing to take on a broad range of accountabilities at pace in a growing, dynamic business.
