Job Description

Our client is a highly-respected, independent medical publishing company, blending world-class editorial insights with the latest clinical and pharmaceutical news and developments. As a result of their ongoing growth and success, they are now looking for an enthusiastic Editorial Coordinator to join their passionate, friendly team in London.The successful candidate will use their impeccable research skills and medical knowledge to build and develop strong relationships, commission forwards, interviews and reviews, and assist in the commissioning of new and thought-provoking feature content. Reporting to the Deputy Managing Editor, you will supervise a small team, oversee the training and mentorship of new starters, write your own reviews, news stories and event content, copy-edit research articles and deputise for the Associate Editor where necessary.This is a fun, supportive company that has seen phenomenal growth in the last few years and the opportunities for career progression are excellent.   • Attend relevant conferences in London and other international cities, using this as an opportunity to network, gather content ideas and interview thought leaders
  • Manage journals by being accountable for the progress of content leading up to publication day
  • Use your research skills and medical knowledge to assist in commissioning journal content, by researching/sourcing articles, abstracts and features
  • Write your own journal and newsletter content, including features, reviews, interview questions, news stories and events
  • Oversee the peer review process to determine the suitability of research papers for publication
  • Supervise a small team by being a point of contact for other departments and distributing the team?s tasks
  • Oversee the training and mentorship of new starters
  • Deputise for the Associate Editor where necessary
  • Skills and experience required:
  • A Medical Science related degree is essential for this role as is a minimum of one year?s experience in science publishing
  • You will have excellent writing and English language skills and experience copy-editing scientific research papers
  • Strong IT Skills - MS (Excel, Outlook and Word)
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be an enthusiastic and dedicated team player, able to learn quickly and manage/prioritise a high-volume workload linked to tight deadlines
  • Comfortable and confident with networking
  • Excellent attention to detail
