Job Description

Hospital Manager 40 hrs per week plus on call£42,000 - £48,000 Main Duties

  • To act as a role model supporting an open, positive and inclusive management culture
  • Work at developing a positive relationship with the CQC at an informal and formal level
  • Contribute to the formulation and operate within the agreed financial envelope as agreed.
  • Participate in the development of Milestones policies
  • Assist in shaping and developing Milestones strategic plans
  • Participate in evaluation of Milestones against agreed organisational goals, business, and quality objectives
  • Work to further establish and maintain excellent links with our commissioners
  • Ensure best practice in the application of the Mental Health Act to safeguard Service User rights
  • Participate in the establishment and maintenance of Milestones management information systems
  • Organise the formulation and implementation of all of the policies and procedures
  • Formulate and implement care policies and procedures
  • Implement and maintain the standards required by legislation related to the registration of Milestones
  • Manage Milestones in accordance with the Management Protocols
  • Participate in discussions reviewing employee remuneration
  • Operate in a cost-effective manner, within the financial limits set, particularly in the area of personnel
  • Be involved in the design and implementation and maintenance of quality assurance
  • Design and administer an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision

  • Professional Long-Term Care Leadership: In addition to these functions’ employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required. To provide leadership of the administration, care, catering, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and people management functions of Milestones. To carry out, and provide leadership in marketing Milestones, and selling its services at the agreed prices. To maintain the operations of the service at the standard agreed with the Registered Provider, within the financial budget or other parameters set by the Provider. To maintain care and management skills at the current level, and undertake such training and development as may from time- to-time be required to maintain that currency of practice. To manage the services within Milestones in accordance with standards agreed with the Person Registered, legislative requirements, relevant regulations, and in line with accepted best practices. Notify the Care Quality Commission, at least one month prior to absence (except in an emergency, in which case within one week) of continuous absence of 28 days or more, stating the following: length of absence; reason for absence; arrangements for running the establishment; name, address and qualifications of person responsible for the establishment during the absence. Notify return within 7 days of return from an absence of 28 days or more.Working Hours:40 Hours per week, subject to achievement of goals and objectives and the covering of vacant shifts. The Manager will be expected to maintain an on-call facility and, in the case of holiday and sickness, to arrange for the facility to be appropriately staffed.Personal Specification:Essential Skills • Ability to treat patients with mental health illnesses and disabilities with respect and sensitivity• Ability to manage safely, effectively and in confidence staff, patient and organisational requirements.• Ability to effectively manage and resolve complaints and/or conflict in line with company policy.• Ability to lead an empowered team• Ability to manage staff conduct effectively and in line with company policy• Ability to appropriately and confidently delegate tasks.Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care• Ability to supervise and develop individuals’ skills, knowledge and competence.• Ability to work collaboratively as a clinical team and work collaboratively with patients• Ability to work alone• Excellent communication skills; oral, written and non-verbal• Excellent listening skills• Present reports and use data effectively• Maintain clear and legible documentationKnowledge of CQC compliance frameworks• Good IT skills• Ability to demonstrate an organised approach to work, prioritise and meet deadlines• Use own initiative and take decisions• Ability to co-ordinate and lead junior staff• Ability to problem solve with regard to out of hours activity and where necessary attend the hospital out of hours.Essential Attitude • Calm, tolerant, tactful, self-motivated, patient and understanding• Ability to work in stressful situations• To present as approachable and courteous to others at all times• Promote and reflect the ethos of Milestones at all times.Essential Requirements • To a
