Job Description

HR and Payroll OfficerAn exciting position has become available for a full time HR and Payroll Officer to join our friendly team based in Cannock.The successful candidate will earn £28,000-£30,000. This is a newly created, challenging role that would suit an ambitious and eager HR professional looking to build up their HR skills and experience in a growing and evolving company.Role Requirements

  • An excellent organiser, you will have the ability to work on your own initiative in a structured way, to prioritise a wide range of activities and use available resources to ensure tasks are completed to deadlines.
  • You will have the ability to build effective relationships, both internally and externally, showing sensitivity for others’ viewpoints and valuing diversity. Excellent attention to detail and strong numeracy skills are also key as are expert skills in Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience of working on an HRIS implementation project is preferred
  • Ideally you will have used Kronos
  • 3-5 years solid practical experience in a HR Advisor role in a fast paced, evolving environment
  • 3 years’ experience in payroll processing with excellent knowledge of legislation, including pensions auto enrolment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Role Responsibilities
  • You will ensure line managers effectively manage probationary periods and any temporary/ fixed-term contracts (extensions; terminations etc.) in line with legislation by issuing timely reminders, advice and appropriate paperwork
  • Process new starters, issuing offer letters and contracts of employment and onboarding (either face to face or remotely using Teams and the HRIS).
  • Obtain appropriate employment references and right to work documents and ensure new recruits have the relevant DBS/BPSS checks completed.
  • Work with line managers to ensure appraisals are completed effectively and on time
  • Process holiday, sick, maternity pay, overtime and adjustments accordingly
  • Creating and distributing reports from HRIS
  • Check and review all payrolls before producing a payroll sign off report for BACS authorisation
  • Identify, investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll
  • Work closely with the department managers to support recruitment needs
  • Answer staff HR and payroll queries, explaining complex issues clearly so they can be understood
  • Process P45, P60s and produce accurate P11D’s
  • There may be some occasional travel to the other UK sites.
