With one in three UK workers saving with Nest and over 12 billion invested on behalf of the UK workforce, Nest is one of the largest pension schemes in the UK.Your new roleAs Senior Policy Advisor, you’ll sit at the heart of Nest, helping consider some of the biggest issues facing the pensions industry.You’ll lead work to build Nest’s positions on a range of policy areas, using your own research and insight, and working with subject matter experts across the business.You’ll also be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in government, policy and industry communities.This is a high-profile role offering great opportunities for career development in a supportive environment. We want people to look to the future with optimism and to give our members bigger pensions in a better world - not one or the other.What you’ll need to succeedWith a strategy or policy background, you’ll have an excellent ability to develop evidenced conclusions from both quantitative and qualitative information. You’ll be a very strong communicator, both written and orally, with experience of presenting complex ideas in a way that’s accessible to others.As Senior policy Advisor, you’ll be leading on drafting important documents like Nest’s responses to policy consultations, so an ability to set out positions supported by a clear rationale is vital as well as the ability to communicate these positions to stakeholders.You’ll be quick to develop strong personal relationships with stakeholders up to Chief Executive and Board level, both within Nest and externally.You’ll be comfortable working in a relatively fast-paced environment and able to balance several deadlines whilst delivering high quality work.You’ll have a high level of autonomy, but you’ll work in a very supportive environment to get the help you need to succeed in your new role. We operate an informal matrix management style and you’ll frequently be collaborating with other teams depending on the nature of your work. In particular, you’ll work closely with media and PR colleagues around the communication of policy positions. You may also task manage more junior members of the team for some pieces of work.Experience of working in pensions or financial services would be advantageous but not required. However, it’s essential that you have a genuine passion for Nest’s purpose and the role you’ll play in delivering it.What you’ll get in returnThis is a 12 months Fixed Term Contract with a base salary around GBP 40,000 plus Benefits.You’ll be working with a truly flexible employer offering a real work life balance, and who has fully embraced working from home culture during lockdown.You’ll have your birthday and Christmas Eve as an additional bonus to the already fantastic holiday allowance.
