Job Description

Overall Purpose of Job Finance Operations teams are responsible for the completion of Month End Close, the management of day to day accounting processes and accounting platforms for a number of entities, predominantly Kensington Mortgage Company Limited (KMC) and Residential MortgageBacked Securitisations (RMBS).KMC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Barclays Bank UK PLC from 1 March 2023, and the principal activity of the Company is the origination and servicing of mortgage assets. The Company is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority for regulated activities.The role will report directly to Head of Finance Operations, ensuring a timely and accurate Month End Accounting. The role will be also responsible for providing support on the departmental transformational projects, such as driving continuous improvementsand business projects.The role will work closely with other finance functions, including Complex Accounting/ Reporting Team, Tax, Strategic Finance and Treasury.*** The role is M-F , full time 12 Months Fixed Term Contract, you will need to be able to travel to our London office in Canary Wharf one day a week *** Key Accountabilities

  • Day to day financial accounting and Month end close process of the ledger for the SPV¿s and Corporate entities, following month end timetable to ensure efficient and timely financial reporting.
  • Reporting and management information, including posting month end adjustments, completing/ reviewing month end journals, reconciliations, obtaining substantiation, completing analytical review of movements and providing commentary.
  • Main responsibilities may include Expense Accruals, Revenue Accruals, Provisions, Mortgage Origination, Payroll, Derivatives Accruals and Impairment.
  • Provide active support on Cash accounting, ensuring that all Cash items are accounted timely and accurately. Collaborating with Treasury and Cash Bond Administrator (internal & external) and other teams. Good understanding of Financial systems that feedinto automatic cash entries.
  • Manage junior accountants and provide required training and support
  • Review and prepare KRI reporting, ensuring balances are explained and analytically reviewed.
  • Liaising with Statutory Reporting team for external audit queries; preparation of Month end Accounting information, ensuring appropriate file notes are in place.
  • Work closely with Financial Planning & Analysis team, providing commentary and explanation of variances to budget
  • Review that processes are efficient, robust and subject to good controls. Suggest process improvements where necessary
  • Reporting control issues to Head of Finance Operations / Finance Risk Champion/ Enterprise Risk; and taking ownership to resolve these.
  • Test and relevant procedures/ policies for accuracy and completeness on a periodic basis. Ensure that these are correctly followed by junior accountant.
