Job Description

The Pensions Ombudsman has an opportunity for aHead of CommunicationS Engagement and Insight to join our team based in Canary Wharf with agile working in accordance with the policy. You will be working full or part-time basis on a permanent contract. Youwill receive a competitive salary of £56,554 - £66,395 per annum. Our service is free, but we have legal powersto make decisions that are final, binding, and enforceable in court.Our work can be challenging and high-profile, delivering a fair outcome for the individual and highlighting where the pensions industry can improve. Focusing on the facts, we must be balanced, fair and totally independent.About the role:The Head of Communications, Engagement & Insight is responsible for ensuring the delivery of our overall communications, engagement, insight, and strategy as well as corporate governance matters in support of the wider TPO strategic plan. The role will beinstrumental in proactively designing, developing, and implementing systems, processes and practices that better utilise current data and develops methodologies around how to generate and deploy greater customer, service, and sector insight.The role will therefore be responsible for raising awareness of TPOs work and maximising the impact of our work in improving pension services. As a senior role in a small organisation, this will involve setting the strategic direction as well as supportingthe operational delivery. The incumbent will work closely with both Corporate Services and Casework colleagues to generate data and insight to design improvements in complaint handling and identify efficiencies and improvements so that TPO can respond effectivelywith new systems and services that continue to meet the needs of the public. The post holder will oversee the work of the Stakeholder Engagement and Insight Manager and Communications Manager and manage a wider team including governance and management information.The role will act as an ambassador for TPO, managing stakeholder relationships, promoting the organisations aims and objectives and report to the DCOO and Executive Board on all strategic matters regarding engagement and insight.Key duties
  • Proactively design, develop, and implement systems, processes and practices that better utilize current data, analyse it and develop methodologies around how to generate and deploy greater customer, service and sector insight.
  • Responsible for raising awareness of TPOs work and maximising the impact of our work in improving pension services. Taking the lead in ensuring that both Corporate Services and Casework colleagues are working effectively to generate data and insight todesign improvements in complaint handling and identify efficiencies and improvements so that TPO can respond effectively with new systems and services that continue to meet the needs of the public.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the annual corporate publications and initiatives, including the Annual Report and Accounts.
  • Act as a senior leader for TPO, promoting the values and priorities of the organisation and working with staff across the organisation to improve how we work.
  • Lead the design, delivery, and implementation of the Communications and Engagement Plan to ensure transparency in the work of TPO and promote our role and wider understanding of our services.
  • Oversee strategic stakeholder relationships, including those with delivery partners, regulators and advocacy organisations as well as stakeholders across government to help communicate TPOs work and influence change in the way complaints are handled
Line management
  • Managing a team of 7, with direct line management responsibility for the Stakeholder Engagement and Insight Manager, Communications Manager, Management Information Analyst, Information Governance Manager, Governance and Assurance Manager (task managed byDCOO Corporate Services),
  • Working flexibly across Corporate Services as necessary and any other duties that may reasonably be required.
