Job Description

Here at our Davidstow site where youll be based, we manufacture and produce our Cathedral City and Davidstow cheddar ranges as well as Whey and GOS (AKA Galacto-oligosaccharides!) Join Saputo and nourish your career with passion and opportunities for growth!This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to kick start their career in Engineering!YOULL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY COMPLETINGA four-year academic and on-the-job apprenticeship to achieve the Food and Drink Multi-skilled Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship Level 3.This apprenticeship also consists of:

  • City and Guilds Level 3 Maintenance Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical).
  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Award in Food Safety level 3, and Principles of HACCP based Food Safety level 2.
  • Included in the four years is residential engineering training at Midlands Group Training Service (MGTS) Redditch college, 20 weeks in the first year, 16 weeks in the second year, and 10 weeks in the third year. The fourth year is spent consolidating learningand preparing for the End Point Assessment.
  • Access to the latest technology in a purpose-built training facility equipped with the very latest machinery, dairy technology and software control systems.
  • Potential to study to a higher level e.g. HNC or Degree on successful completion.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU COMPLETE THE APPRENTICESHIPOn successful completion, typically our apprentices will move in to the shift engineering teams or day shift maintenance teams. In these roles engineers have accountability for maintaining and improving a whole range of our production lines and processeswith real accountability for driving efficiency and reliability of our assets/machines. They work with mechanical and electrical equipment plus automated programmable control systems. Our engineers need to maximise the benefits of the technology and equipmentthey work with and activities include routine maintenance, fault finding and diagnosis, testing and commissioning. Our engineers must also ensure that maintenance activities contribute to optimising food and drink production levels.YOURE BEST SUITED TO THIS OPPORTUNITY IF YOU HAVE
  • Three GCSEs to include Mathematics (higher) at Grade B/level 6 and above, and English Language Grade C/level 5 and above.
  • One A level would be nice to have.
  • A keen interest in developing a career within Engineering and the food industry.
  • The determination to commit to a four year period of study and hard work.

  • A starting salary of £19,000 per annum.
