This role is based at our Cambridge Science Park office, with some working from home andtravel for meetings, events and conferences expected, in line with guidance.At the Royal Society of Chemistry, we support development and offer excellent benefits.About the role:As an Assistant Editor for Education Magazines and Journals, you will demonstrate a good understanding of publishing systems, workflows and procedures, as you will contribute to the production of Education in Chemistry, the Royal Society of Chemistrys flagshipmagazine for teachers. This includes commissioning, writing and editing content, and coordinating with freelance contributors and editors. Working with our Deputy Editor, you will plan and deliver a pipeline of high-quality content, reflecting the needs andexpectations of our key audiences, online and in print. You will also commission, write and oversee editing of content for Education in Chemistry and manage the news channel on our website.We are looking for:Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills, and proven experience of writing and/or editing content for the web to engage and grow an online audience.
  • Demonstrable time management skills and experience of meeting deadlines.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable and able to work with relatively little supervision.
  • Understanding of digital publishing systems and processes.
  • A relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent.
Desirable:
  • Experience in a teaching environment, or a strong understanding of the education landscape in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
