Job Description

The Recruitment Co. is currently recruiting for an Experienced Project / Manufacturing Engineer to join our clients growing team that work within the automotive industry based in the Llanelli area.Contract: PermanentSalary: £37.5kHours of work: Mon-Thurs: 8am-4.30pm & Fri: 8am-1pm: 37 Hours - Variable. Flexible approach to working as overtime & weekends may be required on occasions.You will be Responsible for:New Product Introduction, transfer or modification supporting stamping & assembly tooling & Processes.Qualifications:

  • HNC / Degree in a Mechanical or Production Engineering discipline (Preferable)
Key Requirements:
  • A good working knowledge of metal forming, fabrication and assembly processes (Essential)
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of high volume automotive manufacturing with specific attention to engineering processes (Essential).
  • To have undertaken a four year apprenticeship in a mechanical based discipline (Desirable)
  • Lead assembly equipment sourcing, buy off, installation and commissioning from kick off to volume production (Desirable).
  • Sound understanding of the core tools - PFMEA / Control Plan / Gauge R&R etc. (Essential)
  • Current driving license & valid Passport, as travel to customers and suppliers will be required as and when necessary. Prepared for periods away from home at domestic and foreign customers and suppliers.
Aptitude - Key abilities to be demonstrated:
  • Mechanical Comprehension (G,D&T, metal forming, welding, etc)
  • Technical Understanding (BIW, vehicle manufacture & construction)
  • Numerical Computation (Statistics, method of analysis, etc)
  • Good communications & problem solving skills
Knowledge / Experience:
  • Strong understanding of OEM Customer Specific Standards & Requirements
  • The capacity to work under own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Ability to plan and manage resources and teams to achieve objectives and priorities despite conflicting agendas and multiple deliverables
  • Experience of a high volume, capital intensive assembly operation
  • Experience of using relevant software including MS Office/Autodesk/Catia products
  • Demonstrated success in implementation of improvement and or new programme activities
Key Tasks / Responsibilities:
  • Focus on the reduction of non value added activities whilst working towards the maintenance of the site KPIs
  • Identification & implementation of robust countermeasures to customer and operational issues
  • Regular participation in improvement activities, as part of a multi-disciplined team, on existing facilities and equipment
  • Responsibility for the installation of identified improvement actions and customer driven product changes while minimising the effect on Facility output
  • Escalating risks / issues to program management in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain documentation in-line with company requirements (Quality, GPCS, etc.)
  • Creation and control of prototype parts
  • Tooling and equipment feasibility analysis and buy off activities
  • Lead or assist in the introduction of new products tooling and manufacturing facilities in line with SQCD targets
  • Support all manufacturing lines to achieve safety, quality, cost and delivery targets
  • Design, Manufacture and commission facility, fixture and tooling improvements or new concept.
  • Support TPM and multi-skilled maintenance activities relating to tooling and fixtures
  • Carry out productivity improvement studies and kaizen activities
  • Present results to customer and Senior Management team
