Northumbria Police has a rare new vacancy within our Forensic Services Quality Team: We are looking for an individual with strong skills in internal audit, compliance and commitment to quality standards to work alongside our units within Forensic Servicesand the wider police force.We have a committed and complex programme of ISO 17025 and 17020 accreditation work as well as adherence to The Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice and Conduct designed to support our Forensic Services. As a Quality Officer, you will ensure processes comply with above ISO standards by maintaining the Quality Management Systems (QMS) framework.This vacancy focuses predominantly on Digital Forensics, but you will also work closely with your colleagues and collaborate with other Forensic Services units, regional units and external partner agencies. It goes without saying that youllhave an eye for detail, but youll also be a strong communicator as youll need to provide advice, support and be confident to flag up areas of risk.This role is integral to ensuring we are able to continue to deliver an outstanding service in all investigations from murders and sexual exploitation to frauds and burglaries.What will I be doingWorking closely with the Deputy Quality Manager, you will conduct internal audits and present the outcomes of these to the Quality Manager and Technical Managers to ensure that we are conforming to both national and international legislation, as well asidentifying any areas of risk and improvement.You will promote a positive forensic quality culture amongst the teams you support, administer the QMS policies, procedures and QMS registrations, including CAPA (Corrective Action. Preventative Action), Complaints/feedback, Internal audits and Validations.As part of this role, you will be responsible for identifying non-conformance bringing them to the attention of the Quality/Technical Manager to ensure immediate containment actions are put in place to limit risk to the organisation.The vacancy is predominantly based within the Digital Forensics Unit at Byker, however it is expected to attend other locations within the force area when necessary.
