Overall purpose:You will form part of the Senior Management team and play a lead role in not only managing the companys entire accounting function but also contributing to the business strategy. You will have responsibility for ensuring all reporting and analysis is producedin a timely manner, cash management and supervision and development of an Assistant Accountant.Senior Management Accountants key accountabilities and tasks

• You will have responsibility for all accounting-related activities, from invoicing and accounts payable, to general ledger and cost accounting. At the same time, you will also inform the future direction of the accounting function through setting controlsaround spending and drawing up new internal policies.
• Production of accurate, consistent and timely monthly management accounts for the Board including results, KPIs, detailed variance analysis, forecasts and commentary.
• Contribution to the preparation of Companys Financial Plan and budgets in conjunction with the Directors.
• Provide commercial insight on the business performance and identify new business opportunities
• Bank reconciliations, cash-flow statements and monitoring
• Develop the forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash-flow)
• Prepare and submit information to statutory authorities including HMRC and other government departments (including providing statutory returns for tax, VAT etc)
• Capital planning and investment appraisal
• Maintain a fixed asset register
• Oversee all tax and regulatory compliance issues in conjunction with our external Chartered Accountant professional advisers.
• Ensure the integrity of the Companys ledgers and associated systems.
• Liaise with external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information
• Liaise with the companys bankers and debt facility provider to maintain a sound commercial relationship
• Partnering with the senior leadership team and directors of the business
• Management and development of direct reports
• Be part of the Senior Management Team driving the business forward.
• Prepare and run company payroll
• Manage insurances
• Credit control
• Management of both sales and purchase ledgers
• Review company internal controls
• Seek improvements in the Companys information systems (manual and electronic).

Senior Management Accountants key skills & experience

• Good management accounting experience in an SME manufacturing environment, ideally FMCG
• Expert analytical skills
• Experience of manufacturing and batch production costing models
• Strong Excel experience and Sage Line 50 competency
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written; in order to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with outside professional organisations as well as customers
• Be commercially aware
• Experienced at taking a lead and presenting information
• Previous experience at providing commercial support and input to a senior management team within a fast-paced environment
• Project management experience
• Demonstrable experience of managing a small team and comfortable getting stuck in
• Person specification / key behaviours
• You will have held a Finance Manager / Senior Management Accountant level role before with a relevant professional qualification (ideally CIMA) and c3 years PQE experience
• A background in Manufacturing
• Good range of financial and commercial leadership skills
• Good communication skills and ability to listen
• Youll need to be comfortable balancing hands-on financial management with making senior level decisions as part of this job

• Ability to work in a team with other senior staff members from different departments
