Job Description

Summary We are looking for you to join our team here at Gibside as aWelcome & Service Assistant Manager. If you enjoy bringing out the best in your team and want to help us grow different ways to support Gibside, then this is the role for you!Youll join us on a permanent full time contract.Your role is to support the Welcome Manager in the leadership of the Welcome and Service Assistants, playing a core part in providing and developing outstanding customer service. Youll lead to achieve stretching membership and fundraising targets and useyour motivational skills to create an exceptional service culture, ensuring everyone feels welcome. Your excellent people management skills will play a key part in creating a talented and enthusiastic team. If this sounds like you and you are ready for a newchallenge then please do apply.The successful applicant will work across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis providing managerial cover for the Welcome Team alongside the Welcome Manager. A typical day will include role modelling a great welcome, ensuring our visitors are informed about the site and events or programming,fundraising, and talking about supporting the National Trust.Situated just outside Gateshead, this 18th century landscape garden and wildlife haven is loved by the local community. Activities, play trails, and an adventure playground have made Gibside popular with families, and visitor numbers have doubled in thelast five years. The staff welcome people with lots of energy to join this friendly garden landscape, situated on the edge of the city.Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing As a Welcome and Service Assistant Manager, its your role to ensure that the welcome our visitors receive is perfect, setting them up for an outstanding experience for the rest of the day. Youll be managing the welcome team in the day to day, ensuringthat they deliver great service, giving every visitor a warm welcome.Youll support the team and help to problem solve, turning any challenging situation around and youll mentor the team to do the same.Youll work with the Welcome Manager to help to drive our membership and fundraising goals and always look for opportunities to meet and surpass our targets. Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place youllwork with the visitor welcome team to link everything we do back to our cause and the ongoing work we do. Who were looking for

  • Ideally good practical experience in visitor business, in tourist, heritage or relevant visitor services environment
  • Naturally curious about people, and with a passion to and experience of delivering the highest standards of customer service
  • The ability to work to sales targets, and confidently sell our membership benefits
  • Good organisational skills
  • A willingness to learn new skills, and a can-do attitude
  • Good IT skills (all MS Office)
  • Good understanding of the National Trust and what we do
