Summary We’re looking for a Lead Ranger to take on the leadership of our growing team and maximise this opportunity to deliver improvements for nature. Derwent, Wear and Coast is a new portfolio bringing together Souter Lighthouse and the Leas, Durham Coast, CrookHall Gardens, Gibside, Washington Old Hall and Penshaw Monument. It gives us areal opportunity to lead for Everyone Welcome and meaningfully connect people with the cause of the National Trust and deepen their connection to nature, beauty and history.The Tyne Derwent Way is a major opportunity to enable Gateshead communities to develop a figurative, emotional and functional connection to these special places along the route.The Durham City Green Corridor works to inspire communities & visitors to Durham to connect to and access nature.A summary of the portfolio is attached to this advert..AZ020 North East What youll be doing This is a crucial role delivering for nature and access- you’ll be responsible for leading and managing a team of Rangers ensuring excellent standards of care, presentation and conservation as well aslooking beyond our boundaries particularly through ourtwo green corridors.You’ll plan, develop and coordinate a wide range of capital and cyclical management tasks, commission specialist contractors and continually develop a programme of conservation, access and engagement projects.Youll use your leadership skills and countryside management experience to drive forward our vision and ambitious plans for conservation & access, as well as involving our communities in what we do.This is a great opportunity for someone with a balance of leadership, practical and engagement skills.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert. • An inspirational leader with the ability to lead a team to deliver effectively
• An excellent communicator with experience in problem solving skills
• Significant experience in and understanding of land management, nature conservation and access management
• Customer aware and take pride on delivering excellent customer service
• Confident in managing budgets, finances, income generation and contracts
• Project Management skills and experience
• Knowledgeable in health and safety requirements and other compliance issues relating to the countryside and visitor activities
• A full UK driving licence is essential.
