SRUC SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINEABERDEENScotlands Rural College (SRUC) is developing an innovative, tertiary School of Veterinary Medicine. We have a clear ambition to promote the resilience of our graduates to sustainably support the animals and rural communities at the heart of ScotlandsNatural Economy.Wayne Powell, SRUC Principal and CEO. We are an ambitious institution with a bold vision for the future. This is a ground-breaking model to expand access to educational opportunities and broaden the range of potential students who would not ordinarily beable to attend a School of Veterinary Medicine. It will also help solve existing skills shortages across Scotland. Currently, we are seeking an appropriately qualified and experienced Individual who would be responsible for the creation and maintenance of the School of Veterinary Medicines digital environment, focusing, in particular, on the design of the School of VeterinaryMedicine portal in Moodle, programme structures in Moodle, the integration of other niche software tools, material and activities which are highly complex and specialised and related to the School of Veterinary Medicine, requiring specific digital skill. Thepost-holder will also focus on project delivery, providing digital learning content design expertise to internal and externally commissioned projects, developing learning materials as required and advising on the application of SRUC policies.Responsibilities will include;Project Delivery Deliver digital learning content design elements of SRUC the School of Veterinary Medicine projects, including internal pilot projects, consultancy projects and other externally commissioned projects. Support the process of eliciting and clarifying requirements and decision-making regarding the digital learning content design elements of SRUC the School of Veterinary Medicine projects through communication and the development / use of paper prototyping,prototyping, activity mock-ups, storyboarding etc. Provide informed, timely and credible advice, backed by evidence wherever possible, to project team members on the most suitable choice, mix and quality of digital learning media, tools and activities. Work with project team members to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects, communicating any issues promptly. Ensure alignment to SRUC-wide policies, frameworks and agreed digital learning approaches.Content Design Design, create or commission high quality, interactive and innovative digital learning tools, objects or activities, with a particular focus on highly complex and specialised tools. Review existing learning materials to ensure agreed SRUC-wide standards - including accessibility standards - are met and to identify materials requiring updates (e.g. owing to software requirements, accessibility requirements, best practice guidelines, digitallearning frameworks etc.). Refer updates that can be completed by other SRUC staff (e.g. academic staff with Digital Learning Officer support). Prioritise, update and convert existing learning materials (digital and otherwise) into high quality, interactive, digital learning materials as required. Review new resources, ensuring that digital learning materials have suitable copyright clearance and attribution, including creative commons or open licenses as appropriate. Keep up to date with digital learning material and resource developments to understand new / innovative approaches, making recommendations and proposals regarding adoption. Work with the Digital Learning and Information and Digital Services Teams in the planning, design, development and testing of new technologies for the delivery of digitally enhanced and online learning. Advise on the implementation of SRUC policies in the context of the operation of the School of Veterinary Medicines digital environment. Representing the Head of Veterinary Education as and when required.
