Job Title:Senior HRA SpecialistSalary:Competitive and Rewarding + BenefitsHours: 37.5Location:Buckfastleigh - GoBePurpose / Scope of roleGoBe Consultants are a market leading environmental and planning consultancy specializing in the provision of services to the offshore wind farm sector. Due to continued expansion in our project portfolio, GoBe is now undertaking further growth of our businessthrough the recruitment of an experienced, highly motivated Senior HRA Consultant.One of the main roles of the wider HRA team is to provide expert advice to clients and reporting for assessments. The Senior HRA Consultant will add to and complement the skill set currently offered by the wider HRA team. They will help to secure and contributeto the delivery of a range of consultancy projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.The Senior Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) Consultant will be part of the HRA Team, within GoBe. They will work closely with other HRA Team members consultants as well as with other teams, such as Ornithology, Marine Mammals and Benthic Ecology.The appointed consultant will have knowledge, skills, and experience with a consulting firm or similar organisation, with cross-cutting expertise in HRA and (desirably) other ecological assessment-related work. They will primarily work on windfarm proposalswithin the marine and coastal environment, requiring a detailed understanding of environmental impacts on marine ecology. The Senior HRA Consultant will be encouraged to determine opportunities to tender for and deliver a range of projects across a varietyof clients, primarily (but not limited to) renewable energy companies. All such work will be unified by the theme of sustainable development and the need for associated environmental protection and effective managementWhat success looks like in this roleThe Senior HRA Consultant will be able to build on their existing experience and be part of the HRA process for windfarm proposals for a vibrant and growing business and will be a key component for tendering and project delivery. The Senior Consultant willhave the autonomy to own projects and processes end to end and growth opportunities to progress their career technically in both the medium and long term.Key Responsibilities To demonstrate an excellent understanding of the HRA process and protected sites legislation To provide (HRA) leadership on projects and delegate tasks accordingly To liaise with and coordinate technical experts within the wider business to inform HRA activity To liaise with clients and legal advisors on HRA matters as required To provide mentoring, support and guidance to more junior members of staff To produce high quality work that is aligned with latest industry thinking To keep informed on changes to the regulatory regime and Government initiatives that underpin the HRA process To identify follow-up work with existing clients or potential new opportunities To carry out any additional activities that may be reasonably required or requested. To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others; make use of the tools, equipment, training and resources; and actively engage with colleagues at all levels to contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety management. Complete mandatory health and safety training modules and any that are specific to your role.Skills/Knowledge/Experience/QualificationsEssential- Excellent understanding of environmental policy/legislation, especially that of relevance to protected sites in the marine environment Excellent understanding of the Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) process, including knowledge of the HRA derogation provisions Familiarity with other processes of impact assessment, including ecological impact assessment (EcIA), environmental impact assessment (EIA), strategic environmental assessment (SEA) and marine mammal risk assessment (MMRA) Knowledge of the key impacts associated with coastal and offshore development Understanding of the consenting approach to developments in the marine planning sector Experience with marine wildlife licence applications, e.g. European protected species licencesDesirable - Chartered member of a relevant professional organisation (or working towards such accreditation);Our ValuesOur most important assets are our people who work here.
