Job Description

£45,656 to £57,770+ Car + Relocation Support + BenefitsIRS Ltd is a leading provider of medical physics and radiation protection services in the UK. To support sustained demand, we are now seeking to expand our consultancy team to support further business growth. In addition to our current headquarters and mainoffice in Liverpool, we also have a satellite office in Lichfield, Staffordshire. In order to maintain our industry reputation as subject matter experts, a rewarding opportunity now exists for a dynamic individual, currently working as a Clinical Scientist, to provide clinical, scientific and technical expert advice alongside specialisttraining across the expanding IRS MRI customer base. The ideal candidate, who will be excited by the prospect of taking on a private sector role offering a large degree of daily autonomy with increased exposure to a variety of geographical trusts, is a HCPC State Registered Clinical Scientist in Magnetic ResonanceImaging with at least 3 years post registration experience. In addition, youll hold or be working towards Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) status with IPEM. Applications are also encouraged from individuals looking to further advance their professional portfolio that dont currently hold the required level ofexperience. Equally, more experienced applicants looking for further career development as part of a dynamic business environment will also be considered with an appropriate remuneration package created based on their level of experience. The role involves travel to hospital sites across England with a small number in Scotland and Wales, but we are open to flexible methods of working including hybrid working. You will also be required to supervise and mentor trainees seeking HCPC state registration. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the companys MRSE in MRI Medicine and deliver proactive and reactive support to assist customers
  • To give advice and be involved in the procurement of MRI Scanners including review of installation plans to ensure safe layouts
  • Identify new techniques in optimisation of clinical procedures and ensure that these are carried through to a successful conclusion.
  • Lead in the development of MRI Safety Framework, including local rules and risk assessments and a programme of regular safety audits for each MRI department
  • To maintain expert knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, including CEMFAW regulations and publications from MHRA, ASTM, IEC and ICNIRP.
  • Deliver courses in MR safety to the IRS customer base
  • Actively participate in the training and supervision of clinical scientists, training of other healthcare scientists and practitioners, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals. Topics include MRI safety and MRI Physics
  • Where required, contribute to the following complex MR imaging techniques:
    • Advanced Neuro Imaging
    • Cardiac MRI
    • Breast Imaging
    • Radiotherapy Planning
    • Complex Implant Scanning
  • Where required, identify, supervise, and lead research and development projects commensurate with the achievement of clinical objectives, publishing results of new work in international journals and/or at (inter)national conferences.
Skills & Experience
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist in Non-Ionising Radiation Techniques (MRI)
  • MRSE Certification or close to submitting for/obtaining certification
  • 3 years plus experience working as a Medical Physicist in diagnostic MRI
  • Experience of supervising and mentoring trainees in MRI
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good interpersonal, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to write professional scientific and technical reports
  • Good project planning abilities
  • Able to demonstrate scientific leadership
  • Current driving licence
