Job Description

Summary Were looking for you to join our team on Dartmoor.Dartmoor provides access to nature, beauty and history to many people and this post presents an exciting opportunity to deliver Dartmoors volunteering and community ambition. Working with the Volunteering & Community Manager, youll support our people andbuild links with our local communities.If you have experience in volunteer management and community engagement then wed like to hear from you. With a team of over 300 volunteers and relationships with many local communities and groups, this role is all about connecting with people. This is apart-time role with flexibility in your working pattern. What its like to work here Our places contain some of the most beautiful and interesting sites in the UK. Castle Drogo, Parke, Finch Foundry, and Lydford Gorge are our main visitor hubs and we also have wooded valleys, open moorland, riverside and archaeological rich landscapes. Workingwith volunteers and local communities is vitally important for us to achieve our aims to look after and share our places.We have an established Volunteering & Community programme across Dartmoor. This role will help to coordinate and support the wide range of activities and projects we are involved in. Some of the partners we are currently working with include Dartmoor NationalPark Authority, Devon Carers, MED Theatre and River Teign Restoration Project to name but a few.You can find more information about the places we look after here: Dartmoor | South West | National Trust What youll be doing As Volunteering & Community Officer youll support us in creating a positive, flexible and inclusive environment for existing and future volunteers, communities, and partners. Working across all departments and different sites across Dartmooron a variety of projects, youll help deliver our plan to involve volunteers and communities. This will include the coordination of some of our established community-led events such as the inter-school cross-country run to supporting volunteer recruitmentdays. Your role will be to help develop new ways of working together and deepen relationships with existing and new audiences. Working with the Volunteering & Community Manager, you will help to develop the skills our teams need to welcome new audiences. Youllneed to have an understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working. This role may involve direct volunteer line management, with the expectation of some weekend and evening workingby arrangement. Who were looking for Wed love to hear from you if you have:

  • A sound understanding of volunteering and be enthusiastic about promoting the benefits of great volunteer involvement and opportunities.
  • Passion and enthusiasm about working with volunteers, understanding the differences between staff and volunteers, particularly the legal frameworks.
  • Have excellent customer services and communication skills.
  • Have a flexible approach and be a great team player, be able to lead on and work with other peoples agendas toward a common purpose.
  • Organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • A sound working knowledge of volunteering principles and practice.
  • IT skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Knowledge and experience of budget management
