Job Description

This exciting role is in support of all companies within Hadleigh Timber Group, a market leading collective of timber distribution businesses comprising of Meyer Timber, Panelco, and Timbmet Brands.We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our Group Shipping and Customs Department.Salary: Competitive salary dependent upon experienceHours of Work: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week, no weekends or eveningsShipping & Customs Assistant Duties:You will work within the busy International Supply Chain Department providing assistance for moving goods from around the world into our businesses. On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Support our end-to-end import and export process from creation of PO, expedite and arrange shipments by road, air and sea, customs clearance, container devanning and deliveries to final destination.
  • Identify issues for both escalation and resolution, both externally and internally.
  • Liaise externally with international suppliers, shippers, HMRC, freight forwarders, ports and hauliers.
  • Liaise internally with all departments involved in our global supply chain.
  • Accurately monitor and administrate all shipments including confirming and checking purchasing, shipping and supplier documentation, providing clearance instructions and checking entries after completion.
  • Update our ERP system(s) and wider business with accurate information.
Experience within global supply chain administration is advantageous, as would an understanding of customs legislation, commodity codes and logistics from international and EU markets.Shipping & Customs Assistant Requirements:
  • Excellent administrative, communication, organisational, numerical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial acumen and operational awareness.
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office, Excel and ERP systems.
  • Ability to multitask with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Customer focus with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Highly motivated with a positive can do attitude.
  • Confident and adaptable with the ability to take responsibility and undertake challenges.
