Job Description

Teacher of German with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to join our school community. As a German Teacher, you will inspire students to develop their language skills, cultural understanding, and passion for the German language and culture.Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive German lessons that cater to the needs and abilities of a diverse range of students.
  • Teach German language skills, grammar, vocabulary, and cultural aspects of the German-speaking world.
  • Foster a love for the German language and culture by incorporating authentic materials, literature, and multimedia resources into lessons.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technology to enhance students language acquisition, oral proficiency, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback and support for their language development.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active student participation, respect, and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering effective communication and partnerships.
  • Organize and participate in cultural activities, such as German club, language exchanges, or cultural events, to deepen students understanding and appreciation of German culture.
  • Collaborate with the Modern Foreign Languages department to contribute to the development and enhancement of the German curriculum, ensuring alignment with national standards.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, staying updated with the latest advancements in German language teaching and pedagogical practices.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in German or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching German at the secondary school level, with a passion for inspiring students language skills and appreciation for German culture.
  • Fluent or near-fluent proficiency in German, with a strong command of the languages grammar, vocabulary, and cultural nuances.
  • In-depth knowledge of the national curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages and the ability to deliver lessons that align with curriculum standards.
  • Effective classroom management skills, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital resources to enhance German teaching and learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a deep understanding of German culture and traditions.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest research and best practices in German language teaching.
  • Compliance with safeguarding policies and a commitment to promoting the well-being of students.
