Lead Mechanical Design Engineer Coventry £65k + Package.

Huxley Engineering and a Global Engineering Innovator in Automotive Electric Drive / E-Drive Technology are looking to recruit a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for their Innovation Offices near Coventry, owing to significant business growth andproduct development projects for 2023-24+.Based near Coventry and reporting into the Motor Development Engineering Team Leader, the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will responsible for developing new complex motors for Automotive Applications.Specifically, the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will:
  • Develop new motor configuration with electromagnetic engineers.
  • Develop Mechanical designs.
  • Review project requirements
  • Review/Approve design validation plan
  • Support Test engineers during validation phases.
  • Interface with project and program managers
  • Monitor costs of the assemblies at different maturity levels.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies applicable to electric motors.
  • Prepare/Approve DFMEAs
Qualification & Experience Required for Lead Mechanical Design Engineer role:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Or similar)
  • Previous experience designing complex assemblies / moving and/or rotating mechanical systems (motors, drives, powertrain, drivetrain (or similar - Complex Assembles, Rotating Equipment etc)
  • Previous experience within a product development environment re DFMEAs etc
  • Must possess excellent mechanical aptitude and creativity.
  • Ownership of a design through full design lifecycle
  • Good knowledge of CAD systems
  • Self-motivated individual, capable of performing duties with limited supervision while conforming to tight work completion deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable in a work environment following standards and processes
  • Effective communicator.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to work in a team where members are not in the same office space, country, or time zone.
  • Must have strong demonstrated problem-solving skills.
