Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Systemic Psychotherapist to join the Child and Adolescent Directorate at SLAM.Acorn Lodge is a bed children’s unit with 8 general beds and 2 HDU beds, set within the grounds of the Bethlem Royal Hospital and has modern facilities and picturesque surroundings.The unit provides inpatient care and treatment for children who are experiencing mental health problems to a degree that symptoms and/or risk can no longer be managed safely at home with the support of community services.The specialist multi-disciplinary team is made up of psychiatrists, nurses, systemic psychotherapists, clinical psychologists, Social workers and Arts Therapists. Further to this there is an onsite school which has been rated “outstanding”. The unit hosts students from nursing, undergraduate psychology courses, trainee clinical psychologists, and medical trainees, fostering a welcoming culture with a focus on learning and development. Team working is held at the core of the service with a range of processes to ensure individual clinicians feel supported in their work, including team meetings, case discussion, debriefs and Reflective Practice. This support is all in addition to 1:1 supervision with a Principal Systemic Family Therapist.The successful candidate will provide highly specialist systemic family psychotherapy service at Acorn Lodge. This will include individual and family assessments and child and family interventions for a range of highly complex mental health diagnoses.You will be working within a committed multi-disciplinary team where family focused interventions are considered an important aspect of the care pathway. This role will allow you the opportunity to contribute specialist systemic knowledge to the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate wider understanding of systemic issues and participate in a team approach to care planning and risk management.Your continuing professional development will be actively supported through regular supervision and appraisal, plus a range of additional opportunities such as peer support and study days.Benefits:We are committed to ensuring our staff get the most out of their benefits package and understand the importance of a healthy work-life balance.
