HIGHLY SPECIALIST CLINICAL/FORENSIC/ COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGISTForensic Community Support +SLAM NHS Foundation TrustAbout the team:You will be embedded both within the multi-disciplinary community forensic service and the Forensic Psychology department, both of which are warm and friendly, whilst also being dynamic and innovative. The Forensic Psychology department provides a breadth of professional opportunities across community, prison and hospital settings and opportunities for research and career progression through ongoing professional development. The post holder will be encouraged to consolidate and further develop their skills and clinical interests in a friendly and supportive multi-professional and multi-agency context. There is access to a network of specialist psychological supervision groups across the forensic directorate. Professionally, psychologists in SLAM NHS Foundation Trust are highly valued. The Community Forensic Support+ pathway is initially funded through a NHSE pilot programme until at least the end of March 2021, to develop innovative new ways of transitioning inpatients into the community, working with the Ministry of Justice, service users and carers, and the third sector. The roles are offered as permanent positions, with guaranteed posts in one of the three South London Partnership Trusts’ community teams should this particular pathway not be continued after the pilot period. We would also consider applications requesting secondment.About the role:We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychologist. We are looking for a part-time (1.0WTE), Band 8a psychologist to be part of our ground-breaking new clinical pathway, Support Plus, which aims to improve the lives of forensic mental health service users as they move from secure care into the community.Part of a pioneering programme funded by NHS England, the service will aim to improve quality of life and reduce inequality, whilst increasing investment in community services. Others in the programme have spoken of having a “genuine impact on service users lives”, the ability to “instil hope” and to “witness real life changes”.This is a rare chance to be part of shaping a new service pathway, providing opportunities to develop your skills and your career. You will play a crucial role in the multi–professional team in working with service users who have severe mental health and interpersonal issues, often co-occurring with substance dependency issues, a mild learning disability or autism, all of whom present a risk that warrants support from forensic services. In addition to direct clinical work, the role will include service development and opportunities to provide consultation, reflective practice and training.Candidates will be HCPC registered psychologists with at least two years of post-qualification experience.About the location:You will be embedded both within the multi-disciplinary community forensic service and the Forensic Psychology department. Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). We also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth.Benefits:We are committed to ensuring our staff get the most out of their benefits package and understand the importance of a healthy work life balance.
