Job Description

Suffolk County Council are looking for a Health Visitor to join our team based in Lowestoft and Waveney. You will join us on a full time or part time, permanent basis, working from 18.5 to 37 hours per week. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,373 - £40,455 per annum (pro rata if part time).Suffolks Health (0-19) and Childrens Centres provide services for parents/carers, children and young people, focusing on prevention and early intervention to support children, young people and their families to achieve their best outcomes. Health Visitorslead the Healthy Child Programme (DoH, 2009) for children 0-5 years of age which provides a universal and targeted service tailored to the individual needs of the families in our care.As our Health Visitor, you will:

  • Be working directly with families to help support the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual wellbeing of expectant parents, babies, and children, from pregnancy to 5 years
  • Working in partnership with the Health and Childrens Centre Manager, lead the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme 0-5 (HCP) assessing, planning, delivering high-quality care (in partnership with the team) and evaluating the outcomes of this with thefamilies involved.
Your responsibilities as our Health Visitor will include:
  • Offering universal contacts at key milestones, whilst prioritising the needs of families on a universal plus and partnership plus pathway as outlined in the Health and Childrens Centre Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and in accordance with the clinicalgovernance framework
  • Working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and other regulatory guidelines, ensuring your NMC registration is maintained
  • Through effective practice and multiagency working, safeguarding children and young people, which will include participation in safeguarding meetings and undertaking all relevant assessments
  • Acting as Lead Professional for named families, being the key contact with the family and liaising with other agencies and services to provide a joined-up response.
To become our Health Visitor, you will need:
  • To be a qualified Health Visitor or nearing the completion of your SCPHN course
  • To be a registered adult, paediatric, mental health, learning disability nurse or midwife
  • The ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills
