Summary Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of passionate team this role as aSeasonal Garden Assistantplays a core part in providing fantastic customer service.Hours: 37.5 hours per weekSalary: £18,720 per annum pro rataDuration: Fixed-Term contract until 20th Sept 2022 What its like to work here Rowallane is a captivating naturalistic paradise garden laid out from the 1860s and further developed in the first half of the 20th century. It sits conveniently on the edge of Saintfield with easy transport links to Belfast. Primarilya woodland garden, it holds a diverse range of unusual trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants and bulbs in its sheltered walled gardens, extensive meadows, magical woodlands and natural rock garden. With 52 acres of garden and 150 acres of farmland, the garden teamlook after these areas for their horticultural, ecological and historical value as we welcome our visitors every day. Youll report to the Senior Gardener and will be working closely with the 5 members of the garden team and our dedicated group of volunteers, as well as the wider team at Rowallane. This full-time role typically works from 8am-4pm weekdays and in-house trainingon machinery and tasks will be provided. This is a rare opportunity to work in a historic garden and work alongside our team to develop valuable skills and experience across all areas of the garden. What youll be doing As part of the garden team, youll assist in making sure that the gardens are maintained to a high standard. Working under the close supervision of the garden team, youll undertake basic horticultural tasks and help ensure the highest standards of conservation,horticulture and visitor experience.This role will include a range of practical horticultural tasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects. Youll help with a varied range of practical duties from mowing, watering and weeding to propagation,planting and pruning as we look after the garden and engage with our visitors. Youll support with the planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants.Youll also support garden volunteers and help them to make the most of their time here.
