Job Description

Summary We have a great opportunity to join our team in Northern Ireland to provide expert advice and support to our places on community engagement and participation.Interview date: 22 July 2021 Second Interview date: 29 July 2021 (if required) What its like to work here National Trust in Northern Ireland has a team of passionate people focusedon making history, beauty and nature accessible to all.Prior to the global pandemic we welcomed over 2 million visitors to our places and currently have 100k members supporting ourwork in Northern Ireland,but we know we can do more and dont want to stop there. We want to build on our existing work to bring benefit to more people in ways that are meaningful and relevant through working in partnership for shared outcomes.The role will be part of the wider National Trust consultancy team and will be based from the NI Consultancy Hub at Rowallane Stable yard, Rowallane Garden, Saintfield. However, due to Covid-19 this role is currently home based. As restrictions ease therewill be an expectation that you will visit and work from the regional consultancy hub and properties across Northern Ireland as needed. What youll be doing Youll be accountable for providing consultancy support for Community Engagement and Participation across a wide range of properties in Northern Ireland. You will advise, coach and train colleagues to develop their knowledge, skills,confidence and capabilityin partnership working, inclusion, community engagement and participation. As a regional consultant, you will support teams to develop mutually beneficial relationships with local communities and partnership organisations. You will play a key role in supportingpriority projects and core programmes of work. You will advise and support others to create innovative approaches to community engagement and innovation. Who were looking for The successful candidate will need to evidence:

  • Good coaching, facilitation, training and communication skills
  • Understanding of social trends and the externalcontext impacting on community and stakeholder engagement and participation
  • Excellent understanding of innovation in community engagement and different approaches to participation
  • Ability to identify and interpret community needs and different audience motivations
  • Experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships and partnership working
  • Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external groups and stakeholders to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Strong demonstrable consulting skills of listening, building trust and acting to deliver a quality service
  • Good understanding of best practice and high ethical approaches to equity and inclusion
  • Good understanding of funder requirements for community engagement, developing and delivering shared outcomes, audience development and evaluation
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislative and safeguarding requirements for the role
