We are seeking an experienced Play Specialist to develop play and activities for children in receipt of care from the Childrens Nursing Teams.The post holder will be responsible for the planning, co-ordinating and delivery of play programmes for children and young people aged 0 – 18yrs with learning disabilities and/or additional health needs, to enhance their experience when accessing services from within Children’s Community Nursing Teams. This will include our Residential Short Breaks Unit, Children’s Short breaks Home Nursing Team, and Children’s Community Nursing team. You will be required to overcome barriers to communication, working with children and young people with learning disabilities, and able to demonstrate empathy, reassurance, distraction, and negotiating skills. They will work independently to assess, plan and implement a therapeutic play programme for individual children appropriate to their individual health needs and developmental stage.This is a developing post and so the post holder will be able to develop the post to best meet the needs of the children and services they will be supporting.The post will be based at Squirrels in Aylsham but will also include work within children’s homes and other units within Norfolk and own transport will be required.
