Job Description

Atkinson Moss have been engaged to support this established SME, as they seek to add a Head of Finance to their team. This is a newly created role, and as such would be the no.1 lead for the business (supported by 3 heads).About the roleAs part of the SMT you will be joining a business at an exciting time of their evolution.As Head of Finance, you will be initially leading on transforming the finance function from where it is today to implementing controls and processes to help a business grow in both size and complexity. Working closely with the Managing Director, you willalso engage with the business to ensure clarity with the department heads on budget expectations and, ensure timely and appropriate reporting of performance and planning of working capital resources. You will also be working cross-functionally within the businessto ensure that finance truly adds value and can support an agile, complex business.What youll be responsible for

Upgrading the operation of the finance function to ensure it can meet business requirements for the next 5+ years.
Building robust financial processes and controls, ensuring strong financial governance but with a sensible commercial to ensure they do not inappropriately inhibit business operations.
Day to day management of the finance function with a focus on continuous improvement, and improving the efficiency of finance operations.
Working cross-functionally with others within the business to ensure alignment of goals and objectives while also being the finance lead on business-wide projects.
Own the balance sheet ensuring appropriate reconciliations and controls on key accounts while overseeing financial reporting to deliver timely and appropriate financial information and developing the management packs to provide rich business insight.

Need to have

A qualified accountant with a strong technical knowledge, especially regarding controls and process implementation.
Commercial with the ability to identify opportunities for efficiencies and/or cost savings.
High level of proficiency in MS Excel
Professional, pragmatic and confident within a senior role, ability to collaborate and challenge cross-functionally and be the voice of finance within the business.
Proven experience of presenting (verbal and written) financial information at a senior level
Ability to communicate with key stakeholders, both internal and external, and ability to communicate and work collaboratively with non-finance colleagues and with employees at all levels.
Excellent attention to detail, good analytical skills, and ability to analyse numbers quickly and accurately and communicate them easily to non-finance colleagues.
