Job Description

  • About the TeamWe are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join Brightside on a fixed term contract. The contract will initially be for a period of 6 months. Reporting directly into the Chief Finance Officer, the FC will have overall responsibility for the accurate and timely provision of financial information as well as for providing commentary on Brightside’s financial performance.The Finance team are a centralised function based at our Head Office in Bristol that provide support across multiple sites within our Brokering Business and MGA.About the RoleThe Group Financial Controller role requires a high level of co-ordination between Finance Business Partners, Senior Management and external parties to ensure insightful commentary is provided on the financial performance of the Brightside Group.Key responsibilities will include;
  • Ensuring the accurate preparation and distribution of the weekly business statistics report, monthly management information and reporting pack
  • Ensuring the application of agreed accounting control procedures across the Group including the completion of monthly control checklists.
  • Ensuring the regulatory compliance of the accounting and financial routines undertaken relating to insurance transactions including CASS requirements and RMAR reporting.
  • Preparing the formal monthly consolidation using accounting data from the Dimensions accounting system and the reconciliation of the information to the financial results presented in the monthly management information and reporting pack.
  • Co-ordinating and controlling the annual budget and periodic forecast processes ensuring the delivery of the budget/forecast to agreed timetable and in accordance with the agreed process.
  • Preparing the consolidated budget/forecast management information and reporting pack, including insightful commentary, reflecting the agreed budgets/forecasts submitted by divisional and cost centre management to agreed timetable.
  • Co-ordinating and controlling the dissemination of the agreed control budget/forecast within the accounting and other reporting systems used by the Group.
  • Co-ordinating the annual audit process ensuring the completion of the process to agreed timetable.
  • Preparing and agreeing the annual financial statements of the Group companies to agreed timetable.
  • Leading and motivating the direct reports to ensure a highly motivated and committed team.
  • About youAs this is a fixed term contract we are looking for someone to be able to hit the ground running and therefore to be considered for the role you will need to have experience in a similar role and have the following;
  • Professional qualification (ACCA or similar)
  • Experience with the financial service sector (preferably insurance)
  • Understanding of CASS requirements
  • ‘Can do’ attitude
  • Trusted and respected with proven ability to build strong relationships
  • Strong excel reporting skills to be able to represent information in an informative way
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Track record of delivery in Group reporting role
  • Experience of operating at senior management level
