Job Description

About the BusinessWe are recruiting for an exciting manufacturing business based in Aston, Birmingham. The company is looking for a hands-on Management Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of putting a set of accounts together,as well as experience in the manufacturing industry.Working PatternThe business offers a hybrid work pattern of three days in the office and two from home.Main Duties

  • Produce monthly financial reports for the group, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Consolidate the financial statements of all group companies into a report.
  • Ensure that all transactions between group companies are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Process monthly accruals and review overhead costs to ensure that they are accurate and compliant with company policies.
  • Prepare financial reports for individual departments, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Produce daily sales reports, including sales figures, revenue, and expenses.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget, including developing financial projections and forecasting future revenue and expenses.
  • Prepare VAT returns and other associated tasks, such as filing returns and responding to queries from the tax authorities.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, which is a record of all fixed assets owned by the company, including their value, depreciation, and location.
  • Reconcile control accounts, which are accounts that are used to track financial transactions, to ensure that they are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare government statistics, such as financial reports and tax returns, as required by law.
  • Reconcile bonuses paid to employees to ensure that they are accurate and compliant with company policies.
  • Analyse samples issued to customers to ensure that they meet quality standards.
  • Authorise internet banking transactions.
  • Liaise with auditors during financial audits.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from management, such as providing financial information or preparing reports.

  • A candidate with experience in a project manufacturing or engineering sector.
  • Minimum 2 years experience either as an accounts assistant or assistant management accountant.
  • A practical "hands-on" approach, used to working with a team in a fast-moving business environment.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Organization and time management skills (priorities and multi-tasks).
  • Computer literate with good spreadsheet capability.
