Job Description

Transport Planner - Various Shifts - 6 month FTCContract: 6 month Fixed Term Contract Location: Appleby Magna (DE12 8AA)Salary: £25,732 plus 30 days holiday, pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits schemeHours: 40 hours per week - Monday – Friday (06:30 - 14:30 OR 14:30 - 23:00)About the JobRelationships mean everything to us, and this one is particularly special. As a Transport Planner you will co-ordinate and control the inbound and outbound movement of Aftermarket Parts globallyto specific markets across all transport modes at the new, custom-built Jaguar Land Rover Global Parts Logistics Centre at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire. You will achieve that through executing the processes and procedures required in an accurate and timelymanner to minimise any delay to the customer. As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:

  • Be responsible for the shipping and transportation activities within specific markets globally, covering road, sea and air inbound and/or outbound to Mercia Park
  • Manage the process from order shipment from a customer or supplier, through to carrier booking, generation of shipping documentation and compliance in accordance with local and customer requirements/regulations
  • In conjunction with the carrier, warehouse operation and transport, ensure the timely and unhindered movement of goods and resolution of exceptions, damage, late or miss-delivery and resolution/ recovery of such situations
  • Support inbound or outbound transportation activity, processing shipments and ensuring the expected delivery or collection is completed as planned
  • Support import or export customs entries, making sure these are correctly prepared and that evidence of export including all documents are retained in line with current legislation, to support related customs audits or query resolution
  • Identify and resolve any breach of export compliance and escalate where appropriate to the Freight Manager
  • Explore service improvements of third-party freight providers on behalf of JLR for the legally compliant, timely, inbound and outbound movement of car-related parts in accordance with contractual requirements

  • An understanding of Transport and/or Distribution, along with an understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
