Unipart Logistics (UL) has secured a contract to run the new, custom-built Jaguar Land Rover Global Parts LogisticsCentre at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire. The operation will be housed at Jaguar Land Rover’s new Mercia Park campus, one of the largest UK warehouse developments for a single customer. With a multimillion-pound major facility investment program already underway,we would like you to join us now to be part of the core team. This is a great opportunity to be a major part of the successful implementation of what is said to be the largest automotive logistics project in the UK.As General Manager you will deliver world-classstandards in cost, quality, and delivery and you will focus on activity in support of our strategic “Go Digital, Go Green, Go Faster” growth and development. You will be fully accountable for the performance and management of warehouse operations and willhave the opportunity to define, plan, manage, and sustain organisation and operational change and transformation projects that will truly make a difference.A full ‘360’ role, you will manage all aspects of the Distribution Centre covering inbound and outboundprocessing, warehouse management, distribution management, internal quality control, returns processing and stock integrity, safety, budget, Unipart Way, and compliance.As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:Be responsible for compliance with health andsafety regulations and quality standardsTake the lead driving and embedding sustainability actions in support of our commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030, and our pledge to reach carbon net zero by 2050 or soonerEnsure ‘The Unipart Way’ is implementedand embedded across the site and use the principles to ensure operational excellenceDrive the adoption and use of digital applications and automated solutions to support and embed our Warehouse of the Future visionEmbed a culture of employee engagement acrossthe site; where the site is considered to be exemplaryManage Senior Operations Managers - and their direct reportsEnsure that resource skills and levels are consistent with medium and long-term business plansOverall accountability for operational performanceto Service Level Agreements and Key Performance IndicatorsEnsure that the operating budget is set and managed within targetsOverall accountability for compliance with legal and ethical people management practiceEnsure effective two-way communication processeswith team, customer, and suppliersAbout You:We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!Experience at operating at a senior level in a 3PL environment - ideally in automotivelogisticsProven ability to manage a team to deliver the required standards and performanceSolid experience in defining, planning, managing and sustaining both organisation and operational change and transformation projects - e.g. start up operationsResiliencein ability to work under pressure in a challenging and constantly changing environment, evidenced by previous experience in a fast changing, volume driven working and customer environmentCommercial acumen to understand, challenge, and manage financial decisionmakingClear leadership skills, to inspire with energy and passion within and across Senior Leaders and their teamsProven effective relationships with client / customerFlexibility and ability to deal with changeOur recruitment and selection process has beendeveloped to ensure that it is consistent, fair and provides equality of opportunity - all selection decisions are based solely on technical and behavioural competencies.
