The RoleThere is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CMM Operator within the MTCs Metrology Lab.This role will involve supporting the manufacturing process from initial request through to delivery of components, including but not limited to:Maintaining a safe working environment for oneself and others in line with MTC Health & Safety proceduresExecute efficient and effective inspection processes to ensure conforming and on-time delivery to our customersAdhering to working processes, route cards and work instructionsTraining colleagues and supervising apprentices in Metrology Lab processes and techniquesCare of Metrology Lab equipment, including some preventative maintenanceSupporting manufacturing engineers in creating cost estimates, lead times and route cardsContributing to continuous improvement and problem-solving activitiesSupporting various activities required for the running of the Metrology Lab, for example arranging OEM maintenance, calibration for equipment, ordering consumables, supporting installation and commissioning of new equipment etc.The PersonDuties and responsibilities of the CMM Operator include:The successful candidate must have a level of technical knowledge that will allow them to contribute as member of the Metrology Lab team.Required:HNC level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experienceWillingness to learn Metrology / inspection techniquesExperience using CAD to interpret dimensional geometry An understanding of BS8888 drawing standardDesirable:Experience in any of the following inspection techniques and softwares:Tactile dimensional measurement e.g. first principles, CMMCreation of offline and online CMM programsNon-contact data capture e.g. laser scanning, 3D optical scanning (GOM, Alicona, Sensofar S Neox)PCDMIS, M COSMOS, Calypso, Quindos, MODUS, CamioPolyworks, Spatial Analyser, GOM InspectTraining will be provided to support cross-skilling on the Metrology Lab equipment.Equality, diversity, and inclusion are integral to everything that we do.
