Job Description

This role is highly technical and is responsible for maintaining the Server and Networking estate at all times keeping resilience, disaster recovery and capacity planning as a primary focus. Managing and delivering stable IT infrastructure to core business needs in large environments. This role also includes the management of the Infrastructure technicians.Client DetailsJoin one of the UKs largest providers of community-based home and social care services in the UK. Every day, they help thousands of people with a wide variety of care needs to live independently at home.DescriptionWhat youll be doing:This role is highly technical and is responsible for maintaining the Server and Networking estate at all times keeping resilience, disaster recovery and capacity planning as a primary focus. The role requires experience of servers and networks, and working in stressful and demanding environments. Managing and delivering stable IT infrastructure to core business needs in large environments. This role also includes the management of the Infrastructure technicians.Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring KPIs are met for the Infrastructure team.
  • Evolution of MDM solution and technologies supporting mobile device estate.
  • Provide guidance to Infrastructure Engineers for complex problems.
  • On-going proactive maintenance of Server and Network systems
  • Research and development of new ideas and technologies to improve the infrastructure
  • Specification and implementation of technical solutions and infrastructure technologies to meet business requirements.
  • Management and maintenance of group-wide backup and recovery systems
  • Management and maintenance of Antivirus and security systems
  • Proactive monitoring of Network, Server and Storage systems using group standard tools
  • Responding to Data Centre notifications for failed hardware/software
  • Ongoing design and improvement of Disaster recovery
  • Assisting in capacity planning and monitoring of storage and systems at all times
  • Keeping up to date documentation of all servers, racks, systems and configurations
  • Adhere to change control procedure when working with infrastructure technologies
  • Training Service Desk Analysts on system maintenance tasks where required
  • Resolution of 3rd and 4th line technical and service issues, by providing around the clock on call support to Service Desk Analysts as required
  • Provide technical training on 3rd line skills and tasks to Service Centre staff if required
  • Escalating and owning calls that have been sent to 3rd line support in or outside vendors, returning the result and relaying resolution back to the Service Centre where needed
  • Participate in all Critical Issue calls while on shift or on call and drive to resolution
  • Delivery of projects including Client based device projects
  • Proactively use Maintenance tasks to prevent support calls when possible and relay these plans to the Service Centre
  • Building out software on Servers, PCs and Laptops when required
  • Development of asset management and stock control procedures
  • ProfileKey Skills & Experience:
  • Ability to support a complex multi-site technical architecture
  • Ability to deliver change and innovation in a regulated environment
  • A strong working knowledge of network and server hardware and systems essential
  • Microsoft Networking and Operating Systems essential
  • Strong technical support and troubleshooting abilities essential
  • Knowledge implementing and managing system roll outs and maintenance
  • Practiced in driving and meeting KPIs directly related to Service Level Agreements
  • Experience of managing the integration of services following mergers and/or acquisitions
  • Experience working with Disaster Recovery Plans
  • Experience with the following technologies;- Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019- Microsoft Exchange Server 2013/2016/2019- Microsoft Active Directory- Microsoft Remote Desktop Services- Microsoft SQL Server- Microsoft System Centre Suite- Microsoft Skype 2015- Microsoft SharePoint 2013/2016- Kemp Load Balancers- Cisco UCS- Cisco, HP and Dell standalone servers- VMWare vSphere 6.x- Hyper-V- NetApp storage- Fortigate Firewalls- Proofpoint- Cisco switches and routers- Sophos Anti-Virus- Polycom, Video and VOIP solutions- Telephony management- NAS and SAN experience- Imaging Solutions i.e. SCCM- iPhone, iPad, Android Mobile Devices- PowerShell Scripting- Wireless Networking
