Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford, gave it to the National Trust in 1976 and today it attracts over 500,000 visitors a year.This elegant Georgian mansion, set within a magnificent 300 acre deer park and including one of Britains finest winter gardens, is a very popular visitor attraction with over 100 staff. The busy team has a strong commercial focus and a fast-paced environment.Within the park walls there is also a shop, caf, restaurant and ice cream parlour. On the wider estate, there are 20 farms, 100 cottages, a golf course and an award winning housing development. The house, garden and parkland hide many layers of history andhave many stories to tell. Click here for more information about this location What youll be doing Joining us as a General Builder/Tradesperson, youll provide a highly professional and practical building service to our historic mansions, houses and other buildings. Youll use your practical, hands-on experience to ensure we can continue to conserve andmaintain these beautiful places for future generations by providing the highest standards of skills.Youll be assisting with completing planned routine cyclical maintenance works and emergency repair works across the portfolio. Youll undertake works such as lime pointing, carpentry, traditional roofing, gutter repairs and drainage works, as well as beinginvolved with small projects such as cottage refurbishments.Please also read the full role profile, attached to the end of this advert. Who were looking for Ideally (though not essential) youll have:

  • An understanding of historic building techniques and maintenance requirements
  • Knowledge of at least three trade specialisms, such as: joinery, masonry, roofing, plumbing
  • Experience of working alongside and managing contractors
  • and enjoy working as part of a team with a willingness to undertake a wide range of tasks.
