Job Description

Have you ever thought about giving back and becoming a Veterinary Nurse Lecturer, helping the next generation of Nurses in the profession.AT MYF Training we’re looking for a special individual to join our renowned teaching team as a Veterinary Nurse Lecturer from our state of the art practice in Aldershot.In return we offer a salary of up to £36,000 and a good work-life balance, core hours between 10am – 6pm, Monday to Friday. A typical day will usually be 3 hours of lectures, several 121 tutorials with your students, teaching preparation and supporting othermembers of staff.No previous experience of teaching qualifications or experience is needed. We will fully fund professional training and development. This includes skills training, training for new lecturers without teaching qualifications and mandatory compliance programmes.Our smart, modern offices make it easy for commuters being just a 3 minute walk from the main Aldershot Train and Bus stations.About UsMYF are appointed by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) as a specialist Training Provider for student veterinary nurses.Our values driven approach has helped us to become a market leading, established, provider of specialist training for student veterinary nurses committed to improve and develop veterinary nurse training. We thoroughly enjoy working with all members of thepractice team involved with the training of student nurses and share our students’ delight as each group achieve their goal of qualifying and becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse.There are approximately 300 apprenticeship students that are in training at any time. Most students study at MYF on a day release basis attending once a week during term times (the only exceptions are those that have finished their course, but are not yetqualified). Our terms are based on the school system, and therefore there are 3 per year.The RoleThis is an opportunity for someone who genuinely loves variety and challenge. During term time each day involves teaching and 121’s as well as a wide range of other responsibilities, for example;You might be:

  • Lecturer’s Teaching Day (10.00am to 6.00pm) - usually 3 hours per day – either 10.30am to 1.30pm, or 2.30pm – 5.30pm
  • Tutorials - normally 2 or 3 per day (done either at 10.10am, 1.30pm - 2.30pm or 5.30pm). Involves counselling, advising, mentoring and generally being supportive and non-judgemental - being a good listening ear!
  • Teaching preparation and organisation - analysis of information, assignment marking, preparing handouts, notes and presentations. Also organising notes for students who were unable to attend college
  • Professional training and development - including skills training, training for new lecturers without teaching qualifications and mandatory compliance programmes
  • Assisting during Inspections e.g. RCVS, VetSkill, City & Guilds, OFSTED
  • Invigilating Exams All MYF staff are required to assist from time to time with exam invigilation
The person:Our main priority is someone who is passionate about the Veterinary profession, who is registered with RCVS e.g RVN or MRCVS and ideally will have some of the below;

  • Strong communication skills - written & verbal. Excellent listening skills
  • Proactive self confidence and drive to complete and finish tasks
  • Builds and maintains trusting relationships with colleagues and clients
