Starting Salary: £36,527 per annum + bonus payment upon completion of TraineeshipReference: REQ3617THE ROLEAs an Electrical and Instrumentation Project Engineer Trainee within SGN’s Southern Major Projects Team, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of electrical, instrumentation, control, metering and gas quality projects on SGN’s transmissionsites.This two-year programme which will allow you the opportunity to be involved in a range of various tasks right the way through the project lifecycle, from project scoping, costing, conceptual and detailed design, project management, supervision of onsiteinstallation and commissioning activities and collation of project completion records, to supporting safe delivery of project work.What does this role focus onProject feasibility and conceptual designTechnical coordination and involvement in detail designSupport procurement activities to ensure compliance with relevant specificationsManaging projects to meet programme and budget constraintsSupervision of Installation and Commissioning works conducted by Contractor PartnersCoordination of project related activities interfacing with SGN Operations, Asset Management, Gas Control and other departments, and externally with third party designers, specialist suppliers and other interested partiesManagement of project documentation and drawingsCultivation of a safety culture throughout the projectsYou don’t need to be an expert… We provide our own specialised learning and development programs, providing access to learning tools to help you acquire the skills needed to excel in our environment.WHAT YOU’LL BRINGA recognised electrical or instrumentation engineering qualification and ideally some experience of working in an engineering or construction environment. (educated to HND/C or degree level in Electrical engineering or a similar discipline)Other skills we look for;Computer literacy, experience of general office software, CAD and engineering related applications.The ability to get on well with all types of people e.g. members of the public, managers, customers, suppliers etc.An awareness of working within a budget and being cost-conscious.The ability to think on your feet whilst always being safety aware.Flexibility is essential in this role both in terms of hours of work and responsibilities (you may also be required to visit locations around the UK for training or to support team activities).Experience of Safety, Health and Environmental management within a project environment.The ability to understand and manage multiple projects, meet tight timescales, multi-task and react to changing priorities in a challenging environment.As this role will involve a significant amount of travel, you must have a valid UK driving licence and you may be required to spend time away from your primary location on occasion for training or to support team activities.
