Job Description

As they now work towards the retirement of their Finance Director from 1/1/21, my client is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take over full financial operation of their SME business in Aldershot, Hampshire, with a start date of 1/11/20.My client has been in business in the security industry for the last 40 years. Their primary areas of trade are Retail, Mail-order and OEM with some export. The management team are forward thinking and the company embraces technology and change, encouraging team members to contribute to both the company direction and product development. They are able to react quickly to market changes, and this has meant them succeeding through periods of both recession and weak currency.Job Specification

  • Create monthly/quarterly/annual management accounts and sales/margin analysis to identify trends. Present findings to the board.
  • Develop budgets and targets based on research and historical data, analyse and report on variances.
  • Prepare Financial Statements compliant with UK legislation/accounting regulations having researched technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Create audit packs and liaise with auditors to ensure a smooth running of audits.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reported.
  • Forecast and manage cash flow including foreign currencies.
  • Deal with transactional detail relating to foreign currency suppliers ensuring they are paid within terms.
  • Handle VAT, PAYE and other taxes including Corporation Tax, stamp and import duties.
  • In collaboration with a team member process payroll for six associated companies.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the business and the ERP system enabling the maintenance of pricing and other data and processes around the ERP system.
  • HR administration including issuing contracts of employment, maintaining employment policies and ensuring the business understands and complies with current legislation.
  • In consultation with the directors ensure the business complies with current legislation such as data protection, PCI, WEEE, battery waste, import/export rules etc.
  • Administer the company’s auto enrolment pension scheme
  • Maintain the statutory books and registers and other statutory records.
  • File annual returns and Financial statements
  • Person Specification
  • ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Good understanding of VAT, PAYE etc.
  • Strong IT skills, accounting software, user administration and especially Excel
  • Absolute willingness to "get stuck in and do" not just direct
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent time management
