Job Description

Job Title: Health & Safety Facilities AdministratorLocation: AbercarnSalary: £11.00-£12.50 per hour - (£21,450-£24,375 salary per annum)Hours: Full time temporary to permanent 40 hours. Monday to Friday: 08:30 - 16:30hrs 37.5 hours a weekHere at The Recruitment Co we are recruiting a Health & Safety Facilities Administrator to work for a client of ours based in Abercarn. This is a Temporary to Permanent position.Main job roles:

  • Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manage
  • Carrying out an array of administrative tasks, including taking and making phone calls (i.e. to contractors; suppliers); arranging appointments; maintaining both paper and computer records (check sheets, tool registration); taking meeting minutes as perany requirement
  • To actively promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation
  • Maintain management systems in relation to health and safety, including facilities
  • Participate in audits, inspections, incident investigation (accidents, near misses), risk assessments, standard operating procedures.
  • Supporting and developing the health, safety, and environmental strategy.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation in respect of both health and safety and facilities provisions. Incorporating any updates in law into the required documentation.
  • Working closely with the maintenance operative (and others) to ensure that plant, machinery and tool requirements are met, as well as keeping an up-to-date facilities and compliance register.
  • Dealing with supervisors and external contractors in regard to maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain the asset register for statutory inspections and examinations (i.e. PUWER/LOLER/Working at Height)
  • Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices in the workplace.
  • To identify any workplace hazards and recommend (implement) control measures.
  • Procure, store and issue PPE to employees, ensuring the legislative PPE requirements are being satisfied at all times
  • Maintaining adequate provisions of first aid consumables and facilities at site.
  • Carrying out standard checks on firefighting provisions.
  • Dealing with waste requirements on a daily basis. Therefore, a close working relationship with the yardworker is a must, as well as our waste disposal contractors.
  • To present site inductions to contractors and visitors where applicable.
  • Partake in the delivery of training i.e. inductions if a need to do so.
  • To be flexible in working requirements, tasks and duties (within your capabilities)
Required Experience:
  • Safety & compliance conscious
  • Previous Admin experience is required
  • Good reaction skills (be dynamic where needs be)
  • Be able to follow instructions and complete tasks in a good time
  • High levels of communication skills (both literate and orally), with the ability to engage with managers, employees, and others respectfully and clearly
  • Remain professional at all times
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Manage own time effectively and be able to prioritise tasks (guidance will be given on what is expected)
  • To be organised, IT literate, have good organisational skills, with an eye for detail
  • Punctual, Good attendance, Integrity
  • Remaining confidential with regards using written and verbal communications
  • Keen interest in continuous professional development
  • To be flexible within the role and demonstrate a willingness to support other business activities
