Job Description

We are looking for a highly operational and hands on Senior Financial AccountantAs Senior Financial Accountant, you will report directly to the Managing Director and will work closely with other senior staff within the organisation. Lead and develop the accounting team to ensure the company’s financial health.Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Managing the accounts, financial controls and reporting, supporting profitable growth objectives of the business.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the companys business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy.
  • As an integral part of the accounts, you will develop and implement an internal audit programme and work in partnership with external auditors to ensure we are financially compliant and meet our obligations.
  • Compile, challenge, and reconcile Budgeting and Forecasting across all departments to ensure that targets are met and financial/statutory regulations are complied with whilst providing ongoing reports and feedback to ensure the business has full transparency and control.
  • As part of our business you will be expected to be adept at initiating and implementing new processes and ways of working to ensure our financial operating maturity.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the companys managers and staff to enable them to achieve their objectives.
  • Preparation of the companys financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
  • Lead and develop a small accounts team.
  • Own, through the team, all aspects of site financial reporting (Annual, Monthly, Weekly or Daily) to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Business case preparation for new product launch and capital investment.
  • Present rigorous financial information to functional review meetings; Exec BoM cost reduction and other ad-hoc meetings as and when required.
  • Coordination of management reports and analysis.
  • Identify, mitigate and escalate risks and opportunities as appropriate.
  • Support and challenge overhead and labour control through a defined monthly process.
  • Deliver strong control over capital including forecast accuracy and capital reviews.
  • Challenge and support the commercial teams to deliver accurate forecasts and enhance profitability.
  • Challenge and support the costing process.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with Managers in the business.
  • Skills and Experience Required
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA-preferred).
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing (2 years preferred).
  • Experience of dealing with multiple entities.
  • Knowledge and experience of taxation.
  • Can manage workload and multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Highly numerate and strong analysis skills with strong attention to detail.
  • A strategic, solution-based thinker with an ability to think laterally.
  • Sound and proven ability to effectively manage of year-end financial accounts.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
  • Advanced Excel manipulation skills.
  • Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to use automated systems to improve reconciliation efficiency.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and planning.

  • Quick learner who approaches tasks in a logical and intelligent manner.
  • Motivated and tenacious, with high levels of drive, enthusiasm and commitment.

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to influence and challenge others at all levels.
  • Possess high levels of intellect likely reflected in a strong academic background including a 2:1 or higher in a recognised degree.
  • Accounting experience: 5 years (Preferred).
