Community Outreach Support Worker - Mental HealthUp to £12,333.99 per annum (based on a 100%, 37 hours FTE of £21,731.31 per annum)Hybrid - Midlands / East of England with travel across our geography as requiredPermanent, Part Time (21 hours per week)Would you like to start a career within Mental Health Are you looking to make a return to this area of workPeterborough Mental Health Service is now seeking individuals to join them on a permanent contract, working 21 hours per week (varying between 8.30am - 8.30pm, including some weekends) who would like to develop or continue work in their sector. They supportindividuals who have mental health issues to maintain their independence and connect with their community. Their team of Support Workers provide a friendly contact for those who may be experiencing isolation or have support needs.The vacancyIn your role as a Community Outreach Support Worker - Mental Health, you will be travelling across Cambridgeshire (Huntingdon, Yaxley, Sawtry, Warboys, March, etc) to their service users, providing a vital service within the community working with individualswith Mental Health requirements. Being a main source of support and point of contact, their goal here is to help improve their quality of life, their ability to sustain their tenancies and the achievement of independent living.You will help to improve their lives by:

  • Maximising the independence of people who require support and enabling real choices in how they lead their lives
  • Providing housing related support such as supporting people to access their benefits entitlements; pay their rent and household bills; secure appropriate accommodation; access employment, volunteering and training opportunities.
  • Assisting people with shopping, supervising medication, and prompting clients to do domestic chores. Social inclusion support to build confidence in accessing the community.
In addition to the above you would be responsible for:
  • Maintaining accurate records of support provided, maintaining risk assessment and support plans.
  • Working with partner agencies such as Peterborough City Council, NHS services and Cambridgeshire County Council.
About YouSharing their passion for improving lives, you will ideally have worked in a similar role supporting individuals with enduring mental health needs, although they’re open to candidates wanting to start in their Care careers or interested in pursuing a newcareer within a Mental Health / Social Work environment. Having some knowledge and understanding of Mental Health and the issues around it would be beneficial.You’ll be comfortable in challenging negative beliefs and provide positive behaviour support, and always demonstrate a supportive and caring nature.
