Job Description

Clark Drain is a leading drainage product manufacturer and supplier to the UK construction industry.Due to business growth we are currently looking to recruit a full time Night Shift Supervisor for our Steel department to be based at our Head Office in Peterborough.The role offers an excellent working environment and competitive salary package dependant on experience.Position DescriptionTo ensure production workload is planned and fulfilled within budgeted costs for all fabricated products.

  • To direct steel shop production resources to meet planned production demand.
  • To select production labour in conjunction with Plant Manager.
  • Expenditure within Budget levels.
  • Recommend deviation from Budget as justified by needs/benefits.
  • Advise on capital plant purchases.
  • Plan production loading for steel shop in accordance with works order printouts.
  • To monitor daily production against plans and determine corrective measures to cope with shortfall and changing order demand.
  • Follow works order production plan provided by the planner.
  • Monitor quality standards of raw materials/
  • Monitor quality standards of manufactured goods and work in progress
  • To take notes of feedback on quality problems from customers.
  • To take corrective action to minimise losses from faulty production.
  • Remain aware of budgets and standard costs.
  • Plan and monitor production with budgets and standard costs.
  • Take appropriate action to restore adverse variance.
  • To identify means of reducing/avoiding costs within steel shop and follow up with appropriate action.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performances and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of steel department and workforce.
  • Analyses and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production methods.
  • Ensure that operators fulfil routine maintenance operations on their own equipment.
  • To schedule the routine maintenance carried out by production operatives.
  • To liaise with maintenance manager on breakdowns/potential n breakdowns and major plant overhaul.
  • To quantify and qualify the department requirements, advise need for recruitment.
  • To ensure adequate induction, Health & Safety and job training systems are available and used to create a skilled, competent and flexible workforce.
  • To fulfil company disciplinary procedures for production personnel up to written warning level. Thereafter in consultation with Manager.
  • To fulfil grievance procedures and ensure departmental employees act in accordance with the companys policies and procedures.
  • To generally develop good industrial relations and the spirit of the team.
  • Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 17:45 - 18:00 hours.Other benefits include:
