Job Description

Are you a SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new role in ManchesterI am currently recruiting for a confident teaching assistant to work in the specialist SEN unit of a secondary school in South Manchester for a full-time role from September 2022.The role is offered initially on a temporary basis and may become a permanent appointment.The RoleTeaching Assistant supporting teaching and learning in the SEN support unit of a secondary school specialising in supporting children with social emotional mental healthFive days a week - 8.20am to 3pmThe role will be based in the schools unit for students with EHCPsStudents spend 50% of their time in the unit and 50% in the main schoolThe Unit is to provide a safe learning environment where students can learn with support and develop independent study skills.The TA will be

  • Supporting students on a 1 to1 basis or in small groups.
  • Supporting new year 7 students who are struggling to transition from primary to secondary school
  • Supporting teenagers with literacy and numeracy and general subject knowledge
  • Supporting teenagers with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Supporting teenagers with mental health needs and anxiety
  • Work collaboratively with other member of the SEN team, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers and other members of the childs multidisciplinary team.

  • Have a minimum of six weeks experience of working with children aged 11 to 16 supported by references
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Provide a CV with 10 years of employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
  • Bachelors degree or teaching assistant qualifications
