Were the Data Movement Services Lab within the Data & Machine Learning (DML) Platform, building and managing the future centralised nervous system for the Bank. The Lab runs from London and Manchester within the UK, as well as India.Underpinning this is a large batch estate centred on IBM’s Infosphere DataStage stack. We’re in the midst of an exciting journey to modernise this capability onto Cloud technologies. Alongside this, we have a major growth area focused on streaming of data basedon Confluent Kafka and where we have developed and deployed an Enterprise events hub onto cloud.What will you focus on in this roleYou’ll be the Data Engineering Lead for this platform providing in depth technical direction, while also leading roughly 100-150 multidisciplinary staff at any one time, of which 8-12 will be direct senior management reports. Work will be a mix of changed focusedprojects and business as usual activities which focus upon building data pipelines, patterns and frameworks that enable data to be processed at scale.You’ll be a trustworthy leader who aims to inspire the technical data community and continue our growth as an organisation, both in terms of staff hiring and technical prowess. This is a fantastic role if you are passionate about the positive power of dataand engineering, you’ll have the management backing, funding & support to help make it happen!You’ll provide technical leadership and direction around data streaming services & technologies like Kafka.
