Job Description

Job Title: Business Lead - IFRS 17 Accounting & ReportingLocation: Birmingham (hybrid)Salary: £1000-£1200p/day (Outside IR35)Type: Long term contract (12 months + ongoing)A FTSE 100 Insurance Company with an office based in Birmingham is recruiting a Business Lead - IFRS 17 to join their finance team on a long term ongoing contract basis. The main focus of the role is to lead a team of project resources on the Accounting& Reporting workstream (part of the IFRS 17 Programme),Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of SMEs and deliver solutions/ milestones on the IFRS 17 programme collaborating with other workstreams and BAU teams.
  • Collate inputs; finalise roles & responsibilities; devise solutions, approaches & policies; facilitate sign off over user acceptance testing; and support embedding into BAU teams.
  • Drive development and delivery of implementation plans, process design, address data gaps, business readiness and updates to principles & procedures.
  • Drive embedding of operating model and changes to business systems, processes, reporting calendar and controls including documentation of such processes.
  • Drive robust controls over data, reconciliations and disclosures required under IFRS 17 and support reconciliation of results to IFRS 4, Solvency II and other KPIs.
  • Oversee the design & monitoring of appropriate quality assurance controls and provide challenge to reporting team ensuring the accuracy & validity of the financial information under IFRS 17.
  • Effectively communicate IFRS 17 results and outcomes to a wide group of stakeholders across both the programme and BAU.
Experience and attributes required:
  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified - Essential
  • Understanding of IFRS 17 - Essential
  • Experience of working in a large insurance company - Essential
  • Experience working as a Head of or Senior Leader in a Finance dept - Essential
