Job Description

Your New RoleAssistant Accountant -Nigel Wright are delighted to be working with a global manufacturer based in Teesside, who are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team.You will be responsible for delivering high quality financial and compliance based services to internal stakeholders whilst seeking to minimise the cost of service provision and add value to the business through robust accounting, tax and VAT management.Duties & Responsibilities- Ensure all work performed is delivered on time as directed by the Country Accountants to ensure the ASSC requirements as laid out in the group reporting timetable- Deliver financial services on two key areas: 1) Financial accounting and 2) Compliance and SOX- Apply local compliance requirements in fiscal jurisdiction of their allocated legal entity to meet regular standards and to achieve legal and corporate compliance- Support external and internal audit activities- Safeguards and processes internal controls in compliance with requirements under SOX- Where applicable, ensure that all tax & vat returns are completed accurately & comply with the relevant legal jurisdictions to an agreed standard process.You Will Be/Have- Knowledge of methods, techniques and processes of Financial Accounting including US and Local GAAP. Knowledge of SAP and other relevant reporting tools – above average user level- Basic understanding of sub ledger processes such as accounts payable, payroll and VAT- Excel knowledge: good user level. Applies knowledge of how to use Excel in combination with other tools- Understanding reporting standards & definitions- Bachelor or master’s degree in Accounting/Business(or similar)- Working towards professional qualification where relevant e.g. UK - ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA-At least 3 years’ in an accounting/finance based roleBenefits
